'Venom' movie trailer doesn't actually show Venom

Fans are eager to see what Tom Hardy can do with the role, and this new footage will only heighten that anticipation for Sony's newest Spider-Man spinoff.

While there's no actual shot of Hardy as Venom, the trailer does end with that unnerving black and white eyemask. It is said that the film will be a part of Tom Holland's Spider-Man universe - it has also been rumoured that Holland might make a cameo in the film. Anyone else would likely be left rather confused, except for maybe the section of people who know enough to recognize the abstracted Venom face on sight, but also don't know this movie is coming. That symbiote gives him special powers like increased strength and unlimited web-fluid. It's clear that Sony wants to find a way forward with all the characters from the Spider-Man universe even if they entered into a sharing agreement on the live-action Spider-Man with Marvel Studios.

Anyway, it looks like the movie ... actually exists, which is more than we could say a few days ago.

It'll be interesting to see how the character is handled.

"One of Marvel's most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom", reads the short but sweet bio. A Venom movie could be pretty cool, but there are a lot of ways it could go wrong.
