Andrew Tye cashes in at IPL auction

England all-rounder Ben Stokes attracted the highest price of $1.96 million in the early sales at the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on Saturday, despite uncertainty over his availability. Jaydev Unadkat, who played for Rising Pune Supergiants past year, went to Rajasthan Royals for a whopping Rs 11.5 crore.

The two day auction of the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru was full of surprises.

Seems like Eoin Morgan, Alex Hales, Shaun Marsh and Lendl Simmons weren't able to impress the bidders as they remained unsold whereas the uncapped Karnataka spinner Krishnappa Gowtham was bought by Rajasthan Royals after an intense battle with Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 6.2 crore. Andrew Tye was the next big buy with Rs 7.2 crore by Kings XIPunjab.

Indian veterans Yuvraj Singh, who fetched a record Rs 16 crore deal in the past, and Harbhajan Singh, did not generate a lot of interest from teams this time and went to KXIP and CSK respectively at their Rs 2 crore base price.
