The Mirror also claim that should Bayern land Goretzka, then Can is more likely to stay in the Premier League.

They say Pep Guardiola has expressed an interest in the German and hope to sign him on a free transfer in the summer. He is said to prefer a move to Bayern Munich, where he started his career. The Bavarian club are unlikely to sign another midfielder should he join, meaning a move for Can would be off the table.

The German footballer has even received some praise from Sky Sports analyst and former footballer Gary Neville following Liverpool's entertaining 4-3 victory over Manchester City this past Sunday.

Can recently addressed speculation over his future, insisting that he has made no decision yet on where he wants to be playing.

"My agent is looking after everything, but I am here until the summer", the 24-year-old told reporters. "I haven't signed anything [with Juventus] or anyone. I am talking with everyone", Can said earlier in the week. "But I exclude that it arrives in January, he would certainly be fine in our midfield and we will do everything to try and get him".

Can is set to hold further talks with Liverpool this month regarding his future, but Juventus are trying to convince him Turin is the best place for him to develop. Why not? I still have a contract here. It is an wonderful club. My agent does the rest. I just concentrate on the season, on my performance and the football.
