Pellegrino can use some of the £75million his side received from Liverpool following the sale of Virgil van Dijk but admits he could struggle to convince Walcott to join his side.

According to Calciomercato.com, Walcott is eager to secure a move away from the Emirates Stadium in January, as he needs more game time if he is to have a chance of going to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Southampton will try to negotiate with Arsenal over the signing of Theo Walcott during the January transfer window.

Southampton have been linked with Walcott more than anyone else, but Everton and Newcastle are also claimed to have an interest, and Theo's agent Warwick Horton has come out and said: "I know that Theo is keen on playing in Italy".

Walcott, 28, has seen his role at Arsenal severely diminished this season after 12 years with the club. We are in the market ready to try to bring somebody that wants to come but I know it will be hard.

"He would certainly take offers and projects from Serie A clubs into consideration". I imagine that this type of player would have a lot of possibility. "For us it's not easy", he told reporters. We are looking for a player that can improve the level of the squad.

Arsenal are said to want more than £25million for Walcott, who enjoys a £110,000-per-week contract that expires at the end of next season.

"I heard about that [the Southampton link] but personally I want him to stay".

How much do you think he is worth right now?
