Samsung has unveiled a new lineup of devices and the Notebook 9 is a direct competitor for Microsoft's Surface and Apple's Macbook products. Both the devices will have the 8th-Gen Intel Core i7 processor alongside Windows 10 operating system.

The upcoming Samsung Notebook 9 laptops will sport the usual 2-in1 hybrid setup, allowing the users to flip them into a tablet or a laptop. The 13-inch model will feature the 8 generation Intel Core i7 CPU coupled with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, thanks to its "Metal12" magnesium-aluminum alloy that weighs only 2.2 pounds. It is touted that this S Pen can recognize 4096 levels of pressure with the 0.7mm fine tip and convenient tilt detection to render a natural writing and drawing experience. The Pen model comes with a smaller 35Wh battery.

Samsung refreshed its Notebook 9 series of laptops earlier this year, and the company is getting ready to do the same for 2018.

Perhaps more interesting is the new Notebook 9 Pen, which will come in a 13-inch form factor. The 15-inch USB-C port will support Thunderbolt 3, and the devices also include an additional USB 2.0 port on the larger model. It is also features Metal 21 chassis and it houses Samsung's biggest 75Wh Hexacell battery.

Samsung is making some changes in its "Notebook" PC line up, refreshing the models for next year and introducing some new ones as well. No word yet on potential pricing. Removing the stylus activates Air Command menu through which users can quickly access Autodesk Sketchook, Samsung Notes and S Pen shortcuts. The 13.3-inch display has a 1920×1080 resolution while the front camera is a meager 720p resolution. To further sweeten the deal, the Notebook 9 laptops also feature fast charging support.

The Notebook 9 and Notebook 9 Pen will be available this month in Korea, and the first quarter of 2018 in the United States.

High-quality performance – combining the best in portability with a high-quality display and strong performance, the RealView display brings a bright and accurate premium image, with lifelike colors and incredible brightness ideal for using the device both indoors and out.

All the new notebooks announced by Samsung today feature a backlit keyboard, precision touchpad, and a fingerprint sensor. This is for those who need a more graphics power than what the Intel integrated solution offers.
