Massive manhunt underway after Texas trooper shot dead

Authorities asked residents to call 911 and not approach the suspect if spotted.

A massive manhunt involving several law enforcement agencies is now underway in Limestone and Freestone counties for the suspect.

A Texas DPS trooper was shot and killed Thursday afternoon about 90 miles southeast of Dallas, according to Navarro County EMS.

Authorities believe Dabrett Montreal Black, 32, of Lindale, may be the suspected gunman.

He left the scene driving a gray Chevrolet Malibu, license plate number JDN4273.

Officials are now searching for suspect Darbrett Black, an African American male who stands 5-feet, 11-inches and weighs 175 lbs, CNN reported.

Authorities say the gunman is Darbrett Black, who is now at large.

A search is underway for a suspect after a Texas state trooper was shot and killed Thanksgiving Day on Interstate 45 just south of Fairfield in Freestone County. "This trooper died selflessly serving Texas".
