"Shiv Sena MLA's are being granted less amount as compared to BJP for carrying out development work".

In a bid to dampen Bharatiya Janata Party's prospects in Gujarat Assembly elections, Shiv Sena ministers from Maharashtra will campaign against its ally in the neighbouring state.

"Patil told me that the BJP was frustrated with the Shiv Sena due to their bickerings and was looking at getting rid of that party by increasing the number of BJP MLAs", Jadhav alleged. Jadhav repeated the allegation to Mint on the phone, but declined to give details.

The Sena and the BJP are partners in the ruling coalitions at the Centre and in Maharashtra.

Jadhav told the news channel that Patil had met him in October and offered a bribe of Rs5 crore each if he and 25 other Sena legislators switched to BJP. Since the BJP is 23 MLAs short of a simple majority, the Sena has lent it support in the Assembly. This had increased the BJP's strength in the civic house to 82 versus the Shiv Sena's 85 and BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Kirit Somaiya had said this would lead to the power equations in the BMC changing in their (BJP's) favour. However, no BJP leader has ever confirmed this on the record. "This is a plain mischief aimed at embarrassing the BJP and Shah", said a senior BJP leader requesting anonymity. The party's state BJP spokerperson, Madhav Bhandari called it a "publicity stunt" and said, "He [Jadhav] has failed miserably in his constituency". "This is a baseless charge".

The BJP-Shiv Sena turf war in Maharashtra has intensified after the announcement of Gujarat elections.

Apart from south Gujarat, Sena will contest in Saurashtra and Kutch regions. Rajul Patel, Sena's Gujarati wing coordinator and firebrand Mumbai corporator, said that once nominations are filed, Sena leaders and ministers will start campaigning in Gujarat.

"Shiv Sena is a big zero in Gujarat but it is still contesting some 60 seats just to stretch its animosity to the BJP to Gujarat".

Education Minister Vinod Tawade, also legislator of Kandivali Charkop area, along with another legislator Bhai Girkar visited "Matoshree" the residence of Uddhav Thackeray at Bandra on Tuesday for same.
