Griffen, who is third in the National Football League with 10 sacks, has a foot injury and was listed as questionable, but Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said during the week he expected Griffen would play.

The Vikings look for a pivotal road win on Sunday as they face off against a Redskins side that is hoping to keep pace in the competitive NFC East as both teams can take another step towards a playoff spot with a victory. But Griffen was a late scratch.

Griffen leads the Vikings with 10.0 sacks on the season and has had at least one sack in every game this season.

The Washington Redskins will have their hands full stopping the Minnesota Vikings' pass rush on Sunday, but they scored a lucky break: Everson Griffin, the best Vikings pass rush specialist, is inactive.

In addition to Griffen and Sloter, inactive for Minnesota were tackle Mike Remmers (concussion), offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles (knee), wide receiver Stacy Coley, running back Mack Brown and defensive end Tashawn Bower. With two quarterbacks on the shelf, backup Case Keenum has been a blessing. Brown will not go against his old team after having been picked up October 30 off waivers from Washington.
