Three people shot, one dead in shooting at Chicago Starbucks

An adult male was also shot and self-transported to Weiss Hospital, where he is in unknown condition.

Just after 8 p.m., a man in a ski mask chased the three victims, who knew each other, into the Starbucks at 4753 N. Broadway and began shooting.

Police tell WLS- TV that a 12-year-old boy was shot in the groin and taken to the Illinois Masonic Hospital by ambulance, his condition is still unknown.

Additional details were unavailable, CBS Chicago says.

Witness Bryan Stroud left the coffee shop just moments before the the incident to speak to a a friend. He could've come come out and started shooting the crowd. "Somebody went off the deep end", he added, according to the Chicago Tribune.

No one was in custody as Area North detectives investigate. Police was expected to hold a news conference later on Thursday.
