For past three weeks, Kashmir witnessed over 50 incidents of braid chopping across the Valley and early this morning an alleged braid chopping succumbed to his injures after he was hit by a brick on Wednesday evening in Anantnag district during protests.

Meanwhile, the authorities have imposed restrictions in Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, Maharaj Gunj, Maisuma, Kralkhud and other areas of Srinagar and announced the suspension of train services after 1 pm today.

Over a dozen incidents of braid chopping have been reported from different parts of the Valley during the last one month but nobody has been arrested.

However, in many instances innocent people have suffered at the hands of the mob.

The administration is coming under pressure as the separatists allege that security forces are responsible for these incidents. The troops had killed six youth during a similar operation in Uri area of Baramulla district on June 9.
