Shubman Gill gets India A call for NZ A one-dayers

"Mumbai: Shreyas Iyer will lead India A" India A in the first three one-dayers, while Rishabh Pant will be the captain for the concluding two games in the upcoming five-match series against New Zealand A, beginning October 6 in Visakhapatnam.

The first four-day match between the two sides was played with the standard red ball, New Zealand faring no better in crashing to an innings and 31-run defeat. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will take charge of the India "A" side for the final-two one-day games against New Zealand "A".

The England tour was preceded by a breakout home series against the same opposition earlier in the year, when Gill dominated the one-dayers with 351 runs at an average of 117, despite playing only four of the five games.

Raval, who was off to his fourth successive start on tour, was unbeaten on 41, while Nicholls, the captain, followed up three single-digit scores with an unbeaten half-century.

As per the schedule, the first One-Day game between India "A" and New Zealand "A" will be in Vizag on October 6. They then head to Visakhapatnam for the ODIs.

Interestingly, two different squads have also been named for the first three and the last two matches. "The Board President's XI will play two warm-up matches in Mumbai against New Zealand ahead of their ODI series".

After the first three games, the A squad sees a number of changes with the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Shreevats Goswami all going out.
