The Utility says customers should expect to have it by end of day Sunday. "Please be patient. We are fully committed to restoring power safely & quickly".

"We have an army of restoration workers that continue to be aggressively restoring power throughout our service territory", Rob Gould, FPL vice president and chief communications officer, said in a briefing Saturday afternoon.

Gould said it would take until the end of September 22 to restore power along the state's western coast where the damage was much more severe.

In a release, the company states they will not offer to expedite power restoration for an additional fee. "We ask for the patience of our customers as we undertake one of the most challenging rebuild and restoration efforts in our company's history". However, the state's largest utility, FPL, said on Tuesday that would restore power to eastern Florida by this weekend, and to western Florida by Sept 22.

Based on the number of individuals each customer represents, that, however, still leaves about 4 million people sweltering in the Florida and Georgia heat without air conditioning. "We have also seen damage to our lines caused by fires when the power lines on the poles become re-energized with commercial power". Power was restored to 3.2 million customers.

"Hurricane Irma's devastating wrath was felt throughout the entire state - the storm uprooted trees, transformed roads into rivers, tore roofs off homes and businesses, and left millions of Floridians in the dark", said Silagy.

But it was not until multiple patients began experiencing health emergencies, which promoted the evacuation of the center, that the utility company arrived to make the fix, the nursing home said. We've also restored 40% of customers impacted by Irma in one day. Directing questions to FPL restoration workers slows down their work and, more importantly, can compromise their safety.
