One of the main new features announced for the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X at the September Special Event was the support for wireless charging as well as fast charging.

If your phone is compatible with Qi charging, all you need to do is purchase a Qi charging pad.

The new iPhones will support fast charging and the new iPhones can recharge up to 50 percent of their battery life in a 30-minutes.

As the Cupertino, California tech giant was releasing news of its new lineup of devices, Mophie and Belkin made their own announcements about new wireless charging pads that are compatible with iPhones. Besides, can you really wait that long?

Once you've got your hands on a Qi charging pad, plug it in and place your phone on top.

If you're a long-time iPhone user who hasn't heard of inductive charging, you're not alone.

But you're probably a fan of cool futuristic tech, and if you're interested in wireless charging, you can definitely use it to your advantage.

It remains to be seen if Apple is going to allow its AirPower wireless charging accessory to be used for charging other Qi-enabled devices, including smartphones from its rivals Samsung and LG. It's welcome news that Apple has introduced a fast-charge capability for the iPhone (and let's face it, it's well past time), but it wouldn't be Apple if they didn't make us shell out for extra chargers and cables. The idea is that, using a thin case, the Qi charging receiver sits between your case and your iPhone with the lightning cable permanently plugged in. If you use the Lightning port and the Lightning cable that comes with the handsets, you'll get the pokey battery charging you've grown accustomed to with older iPhones. If you've done it correctly, the phone should start to charge when placed on a Qi charger.
