Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Other rumored cameos for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" also include Tom Hardy ("Mad Max: Fury Road") and Justin Theroux ("The Leftovers").

This news comes courtesy of a tweet by Premier Report who was at the event, and isn't a huge surprise considering Gordon-Levitt has appeared in Johnson's films in the past.

Due to the nature of the role as a voice performance, don't expect to see the actor in a cameo similar to those of Simon Pegg or Daniel Craig in TFA.

While Del Rey doesn't indicate its reasons for having the release date three months after the premiere of The Last Jedi, it seems like the publisher might want to avoid fans from spoiling themselves over hidden details in the novel. Perhaps the most interesting information (not discussed above) are Rian's thoughts on the rumors that he will direct Episode IX.

Just a few days after being crowned the frontrunner to direct Star Wars: Episode IX, Rian denied that he was not in the running to direct the sequel to Episode VIII.
