Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Wednesday, arrived Benue State to commiserate with victims of floods that recently hit the state.

The Vice President is in the state to sympathize with the recent flood victims who are taking refuge at the Makurdi International Market.

According to the opposition party, the report has it that the flood disaster which occurred a few days ago displaced more than one hundred and ten thousand citizens of the State and destroyed hectares of farm lands.

Speaking earlier, the state Governor, Samuel Ortom while appreciating federal government for prompt response however appealed for immediate dredging of River Benue to ease the yearly flooding in the state.

He said that the state had received eight-truck load of relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency, adding that five were on the way.

"In view of the above, we consider NEMA's action unfortunate and unprofessional".

Recall that the heavy rains in the state capital had left many homeless.

"Finally, we pray for the souls of all those that lost their lives to rest in flawless peace and console all the affected families to bear this irreparable loss", the party said.
