E3 2017 had plenty of surprises for Nintendo Switch owners but none were quite out of left field like Rocket League being confirmed for the system.

The Mario and Luigi cars are identical but for a different predominant colour and logo.

Victor or nominee of more than 150 "Game of the Year" awards, Rocket League is one of the most critically-acclaimed sports games of our generation.

"Whether or not players use the Mario or Luigi NSR will depend on which team color they select before the match - Mario for the Orange team and Luigi for the Blue team", Psyonix said in a release.

Of course the real star is the auto based on Samus' Gunship, which comes complete with some sci-fi wheels. This care bears the iconic design of the ship from Metroid, decked out with glowing neon wheels and a metallic sheen. Regardless of the color, the auto features the Super Star boost that leaves behind a trail of stars. Today Psyonix revealed three battlecars that will be available only in the Switch version, with themed vehicles for Mario, Luigi, and Samus' Gunship. There are Mario and Luigi hats for cars, too. Rocket League will support all of the Switch's play modes, included docked TV mode, tabletop mode, handheld mode, and will feature both online and local multiplayer.
