Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick's window to find a new team is diminishing by the day as the National Football League season starts in less than two months.

The original petition by Unstripped Voice stated that once it reached 100,000 signatures, it would be delivered to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and every NFL team owner.

Then San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, front, and safety Eric Reid, back left, kneel during the playing of the national anthem on September 18, 2016 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. Since leaving the 49ers in March, he has yet to be picked up by another team. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way", Kaepernick told NFL media. The professional athlete is no longer on a team and is now a free agent.

"By standing for Kaepernick, we are standing for players' ability to raise awareness by taking small steps such as not standing for the national anthem without losing their jobs".
