The Munich "Bavaria" in a match for the German super Cup on penalties beat Borussia Dortmund.

Both sides created chances in the opening moments of the match but it was Dortmund who took the lead when United States worldwide Christian Pulisic calmly slotted past second-choice goalkeeper Sven Ulreich following a mistake at the back by Javi Martinez.

Ulreich told his club's official website: "Of course I'm glad I could help the team in the shoot-out and win the title".

As the match progressed, Bayern increased the pressure, Thomas Mueller working out two promising chances.

The Dortmund players were left feeling bitter according to ESPN and Turkish global midfielder Nuri Sahin told the club's official website that they played well and felt they deserved the win.

Goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, deputising for the injured Manuel Neuer, was the hero for Bayern with penalty saves from Sebastian Rode and Marc Bartra after a 2-2 draw in regulation time at Signal Iduna Park. "I'm happy we were very concentrated", Ancelotti said.

"I'm sure everything will be going perfectly in a few months". The Bavarians are eyeing a sixth straight Bundesliga trophy this year after cruising to top flight victory in the last campaign. "We were happy with 1-1 at the break and we played better in the second half because we were more compact and lost the ball fewer times - before it was too many ball losses and then there was too much space for our pressing [to work] because we were not compact".

"It was a good thing to win again, especially here in Dortmund - it is about prestige", he said.

"We should not have let this game go into a penalty shoot-out".
