The trailer also suggests that Archie may have some idea who the man was that shot his father but he stops himself from saying anything leading Jughead to ask him questions. This season will be darker than the first and Riverdale will lose its innocence... we're so very ready for it. The season's first trailer dropped at Comic-Con, Cosmopolitan reports, and it addresses one particular cliffhanger we're dying to see resolved: Fred's death.

Archie and diner owner Pop Tate (Alvin Sanders) don't think they've seen the last of the gunman. "Things are going to be different now, Mommy", she says. With Fred being so beloved amongst the teens, we can guarantee they won't stop until they find the person behind this.

The new season will also feature new faces such Mark Consuelos, who will play Veronica's dad, and Charles Melton, who will be replacing Ross Butler as Reggie.

Returning October 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Riverdale stars K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy and Casey Cott as Kevin Keller.

The cast of Riverdale is spilling some secrets on the upcoming season at 2017 Comic-Con on Saturday morning (July 22) in San Diego, Calif.
