The Catalan club are now fending off interest in Neymar from Paris St-Germain - who are reportedly prepared to meet his €222m (£198m) release clause.

The football world was shocked to hear the reports of PSG meeting the release clause of Neymar a few days back and the move could very well happen according to the French media, which has reportedly made Barcelona planning for life without one of their best players.

According to recent reports, PSG are attempting to lure the Brazilian to France, a week after the Catalan club were told they would not be able to sign Italian midfielder Marco Verratti from Les Parisiens.

Neymar has a £199million release clause in his Barca contract and there's talk in Spain that PSG are seriously considering trying to trigger it.

What is clear right now is that Neymar's silence would only further fuel the speculations surrounding his Barcelona future.

Those comments echo those of club vice-president Jordi Mestre and spokesperson Josep Vives, who have both said they are confident Neymar would not leave. "(I hope he) says that he's delighted to be at Barcelona and that the rumours have no foundations".

It seems odd for Neymar to have signed such a deal if that was the case as that ultimately keeps him at Barcelona with no other club capable of prising him away, with Bartomeu clear that there is no intention to sell from the perspective of the Catalan giants.

Do you think Neymar will leave Barca in this window?
