Among those rumored to star are Danny DeVito, Eva Green, and Michael Keaton.

There's no stopping the juggernaut that is Disney's live-action remakes and Tim Burton is in the driving seat for one of them, having been confirmed as the director of Dumbo, which will be released in the USA on 29 March 2019. But that's not all, Disney also released a synopsis for the film... It was Burton's own live-action Alice in Wonderland adaptation (which was released in 2010) that kicked off the current trend of the Mouse House re-making its animated classics in live-action.

Disney has announced a number of live-action movies today at D23 Expo, including a remake of Dumbo and Aladdin. The cast also includes Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney and Douglas Reith.

A photo of director Tim Burton hanging out on set has been released (below). Disney fans will be pleased to know that Burton recorded his video from inside Casey Jr., the iconic train from the original movie (which has been further immortalized in Disney theme parks).

Burton, writer Ehren Kruger (the Transformers sequels), and producer Justin Springer (TRON: Legacy) are looking to "add a unique family story that parallels Dumbo's journey" and pad out the 1941 film's hour-long runtime with new material that "deepens the circus aspect of the story".

'But when Holt's children (Parker and Hobbins) discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star'.

Dumbo continues Disney's latest trend of bringing live-action versions of its beloved properties to life, with The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast being the most recent additions to an ever-growing catalog.

Dumbo soars into theaters on March 29th, 2019.
