The Congress on Friday cornered the Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh over the explosive chemical found in the state assembly, saying that it shows the condition of law and order in the state.

The plastic bag contained 60 gms of explosive PETN ( Pentaerythritol tetranitrate), which is one of the most powerful explosives materials known.

When the powder was found, UP CM Yogi Adityanath was present in the assembly.

As per reports, security personnel found the white powder with the help of the dog squad. According to experts 500 gm of this explosive is enough to blow up the House, the chief minister said.

Terming it as a conspiracy, the Chief Minister said in the Assembly that the NIA should probe the matter. However, the incident has raised many questions on the security of the state assembly. "NIA must investigate this".

"Security guidelines must be issued and everyone must follow them".

A "suspicious explosive substance" was discovered inside the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, triggering a scare and inviting sharp criticism from the opposition over security. "There should be an arrangement where bags and mobile phones are kept outside the house", he said.

Adityanath said that this incident could also be an act of terror, planned with terrorist or militant groups and that the security of the state and the country cannot be compromised. He also said that police should carry out background checks for all workers in the state assembly. "This is a risky tendency that security of assembly is breached when House is in session", he said. "PETN explosives were found, action must be taken against those involved". On all the gates QRT of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) will be deployed and whole body scanners will be installed.
