He's apologized publicly for the beating before, but to be honest - that came right before "Straight Outta Compton" was released. and many saw it as a PR move. I hope that after all these years, he really is a changed man. Dr. Dre has matured, and the women he's hurt, including myself, have endured. "I'm not Oprah", she said in the doc.

"I have this dark cloud that follows me", Dre continues, "and it's going to be attached to me forever".

HBO is now running a new show called The Defiant Ones - a documentary series which examines the relationship between Dr. Dre and Jimmy lovine, and a chain of events that have shaped contemporary culture. Barnes has said he attacked her following an interview she conducted in which she criticized his group, N.W.A. "I f*cked up, I paid for it, I'm sorry for it, I apologize for it".

Barnes previously claimed being Dre's victim had her blacklisted in the entertainment biz. "I wouldn't say all the allegations are true, some of them are". "It was as if I had ruined his career by being that disturbing footnote in his legacy". "I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives". According to reports, Dre allegedly attacked Barnes over the Pump It Up! package, which resulted in a $22 million lawsuit against the Aftermath leader for assault and battery.

Hughes spoke about Dre's apology during a June appearance on "Sway in the Morning", Sway Calloway's SiriusXM show. She said as much in an essay she wrote for Gawker around the time of the film's release.

As for Barnes, she seems to have forgiven Dre for the incident. I'm doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again.

"I went through the anger and the dismay and, you know, I worked those things out to where I got to a place of peace", Barnes adds. Forgiveness is. for you.
