Crystal Palace eyeing surprise move for ex-Barcelona and Arsenal man

The 29-year-old Scotland global could become surplus to requirements under Frank de Boer as the Palace manager looks to change his midfield options.

Vermaelen spent last season on loan at Roma, having fallen out of favour at the Catalan side, with the former Arsenal captain only playing 11 league matches for Barcelona since his move in 2014.

Now whether the club, based in South London, are successful, remains to be seen.
