But perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this report is the implication that Jackson may have renewed his deal with Marvel.

While the first Iron Man movie was officially the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it didn't really become the MCU until Samuel L. Jackson arrived as Nick Fury in the post-credits scene to talk about the Avengers Initiative.

Several months ago Jackson suggested he would be interested in returning to the role, telling WeGotThisCovered: 'I'm always open and game. But they got Infinity Wars, two movies to do there, and after that there's Brie [Larson's] movie Captain Marvel, which maybe [Nick] will be part of.

Jackson has been vocal about not appearing in the MCU - particulary Black Panther - as Jackson argues how could Nick Fury not know (or appear in a movie) about an African superhero. But they just said, "No you're not in that one"'.

The last time we saw Fury was in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. But Nick Fury still has work to do, and it's now been reported that Samuel L Jackson will be added to the cast of the upcoming Captain Marvel. Prior to that Fury was actually shot and hospitalized in 2014's Captain America: Winter Soldier.

Larson plays the title role of Carol Danvers in the MCU film, which is set to release on March 8th, 2019.
