Based on Margaret Atwood's best-selling novel, The Handmaid's Tale is about life in the dystopian Gilead, a totalitarian society in what used to be a part of the United States. Perhaps the timing of the series release made all the difference with the U.S. election results and the current political climate, but the intensity of the series and the cast brought it to the forefront of the virtual watercooler. Ofglen's upgrade to series regular also hints that Season 2 will shift focus to Mayday, as we know Ofglen was an active member of the resistance movement.

In Season 1, Bledel only appears in a handful of episodes as Ofglen/Emily and is imprisoned and punished for a same-sex relationship. Now it has been confirmed by Hulu that Alexis Bledel will be returning for Season 2 of The Handmaid's Tale, meaning we will get to find out what happened to Emily after she was arrested.

Bledel's character has been through some things - and, honestly, that's an understatement.

The season 1 finale left a lot of questions for viewers, and opened the door for several possible continuing storylines for characters.

We have a few predictions: Offred (Elisabeth Moss) will visit the environmentally toxic colonies; she'll stray further from her husband, Luke, before they're reunited.

According to Hulu, The Handmaid's Tale became the most-viewed premiere of any series on the streaming service in its first week.
