Blue Air becomes the first Romanian 737 MAX operator following the deal closed at the 2017 Paris Air Show, it said in a press release on Tuesday. For the last four consecutive years, FlightStats has recognized Copa Airlines as "Best Airline in Latin America" for its on-time performance and service quality, and, for the last two consecutive years, Copa Airlines was recognized as "The World's Second Most On-Time Airline", by OAG.

"The 737 MAX with 197 seats provides Ryanair with the ideal solution for its additional capacity requirements as it strives to carry 200 million passengers per year by the middle of the next decade", said Ihssane Mounir, senior vice president, Global Sales & Marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Boeing also identified a previously undisclosed customer Wednesday for one Max 8 as Mauritania Airlines. He continued, "Adding the 737 MAX 10 gives our customers the most flexibility in the market, providing their fleets the range capability, fuel efficiency, and unsurpassed reliability that the 737 MAX family is widely known for".

Boeing now expects 29,530 deliveries in the medium-haul single-aisle category, which is popular with low-priced airlines.

Malaysia Airlines Bhd has converted some of its current 737 MAX 8 orders into 10 new 737 MAX 10 models, valued at US$1.25 billion (RM5.36 billion) at list prices, at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, France. Boeing is stretching its 737 in a bid to challenge the sales lead held by Airbus SE in the category of the biggest mono-aisle airliner.

In total, Boeing and Airbus announced more than $114 billion in new business. Double-decker superjumbos with four engines, such as Boeing's 747, were once viewed as the future of air travel between global hubs.

Airbus insists the double-decker A380 has a future due to airport congestion and predicts 5 percent of aircraft delivered over the next 20 years will be very large people carriers or freighters, even though it lowered its forecast.

Irish airline Ryanair has agreed a $1.1bn (£868bn/€987bn) deal to buy ten new Boeing planes.

The 737 MAX is the fastest-selling airplane in Boeing history.
