Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has explained exactly why his club can not afford to sell Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez in particular spent large parts of last season looking unhappy and has been heavily linked with a move to the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and PSG.

The Arsenal superstar has been linked with a move away from the Emirates this season with the Chile worldwide yet to pen a new deal.

Mustafi and Sanchez will go head to head on Thursday when Germany meet Chile at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation.

'I hope he stays, ' Mustafi told BILD.

Last season, Arsenal finished fifth in the league which cost them a place in next season's UEFA Champions League, but have a consolatory UEFA Europa Cup ticket.

"Of course I hope he stays".

The uncertainty surrounding Sanchez's future has clouded the early weeks of Arsenal's summer - but team-mate Mustafi is desperate to see him stick around.

"He could play anywhere, even at Bayern", he said. Alexis is a complete player.

The ball landed at Sanchez's feet, he played a one-two with Vidal and was through on goal, after Mustafi charged into a tackle and left an ocean of space behind him.

"I don't know what will happen by the end of the transfer window but I know Arsene Wenger has a lot of work to do this summer". Once he has made his way to the front of the goal, you will not be able to take the ball.
