A person familiar with Mueller's inquiry, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Thursday Mueller was looking into whether Trump or others attempted to obstruct the Russian Federation investigation.

FBI agents and federal prosecutors have also been examining the financial dealings of other Trump associates, including former national security adviser Michael Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Carter Page, who was listed as a foreign policy adviser for the campaign.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Donald Trump has lashed out at the investigators driving the Russian Federation investigation as "very bad and conflicted people", responding angrily to reports that the special counsel is looking into whether Trump obstructed justice.

All the stories about Mueller investigating Trump for possible obstruction cited anonymous sources.

Kushner has agreed to discuss his Russian contacts with the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is conducting one of several investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Now there's some question of whether President Trump wants to fire Mueller.

"The message the president is sending through his tweets is that he believes the rule of law doesn't apply to him and that anyone who thinks otherwise will be fired", said Feinstein.

But it was released shortly after The Washington Post reported - citing unnamed U.S. officials familiar with the matter - that the business dealings of President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are being investigated by Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller, who has been investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election and the Trump administration's potential ties to Russia.

The Justice Department's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election is looking at Kushner's multiple roles in the Trump administration, including the Trump campaign's 2016 data analytics operation; his relationship with former national security adviser Michael Flynn; and Kushner's own contacts with Russians, according to U.S. officials briefed on the probe.

Trump has told associates he has the legal authority to fire Mueller. He has already been subpoenaed by the House intelligence committee.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russian Federation probe in March, citing his own ties to President Trump's campaign. Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., where Trump has spent some weekends, also took in $20 million in income.

The Twitter attacks came as Vice President Mike Pence hired a personal lawyer to represent him in the intensifying investigation. He said this week he had not found reason to do so - making the statement in the days after Trump's friends raised the possibility that the president himself was thinking of "terminating" Mueller.

Comey told lawmakers he gave notes he had taken after that meeting and his other eight meetings or phone calls he had with Trump to Mueller.

Mueller investigation appeared to be reaching a broadening circle of current and former officials.

Ruddy, who had been at the White House on Monday, told PBS that Trump is considering terminating the special counsel.

The Russia issue has cast a shadow over Trump's five months in office. Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the president's requests, officials said.
