Ex-FBI Director James Comey Visits Hometown, Dad

Mr Trump refused to say whether those private exchanges were taped, a matter at the heart of the conflicting accounts of what passed between them.

Comey testified that while he was FBI director, Trump was not under investigation by the FBI - not in a criminal investigation, and not in a counter-intelligence investigation, which, in Comey's words, "tend to be centered on individuals the FBI suspects to be witting or unwitting agents" or "covertly acting as an agent" of a hostile foreign nation, or "targeted for recruitment".

Questioned about Comey's central claim that Trump told him to lay off Flynn, the president responded: "I didn't say that".

The president said he would provide sworn testimony disputing Comey's charge that he was forced out because of his handling of the investigation into the Trump campaign's possible collusion with Russian Federation. "There's no ambiguity in it", Trump Jr. said on Fox News" "Justice with Judge Jeanine".

Asked on Friday if he would be willing to go under oath to give his version of his interactions with Comey, Trump replied, "100 per cent".

Separately, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence announced they had made two requests for evidence themselves - one to Comey and another to White House counsel Don McGahn.

"I'll tell you about that maybe in the very near future", he said. "You're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer". That is exactly what happened May 17, the day after the Times piece, when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein named as counsel former Federal Bureau of Investigation director Robert Mueller.

Meanwhile the leaders of the House Intelligence Committee, which is also probing Russian election meddling, wrote Comey requesting his notes memorializing his conversations with Trump.

"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication", Trump wrote, suggesting that Comey had committed perjury.

Comey admitted he leaked the information as part of the FBI's probe into Russia's involvement in USA elections and the connections of the president's former national security adviser Michael Flynn with Russian officials.

In a brief statement to reporters Thursday after Comey's testimony, Kasowitz accused Comey of admitting "that he unilaterally and surreptitiously made unauthorized disclosures to the press of privileged communications with the President".

He said he would be happy to speak to special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating allegations that Russian Federation interfered with the election and colluded with Trump's campaign.

"I hardly know [Comey]". The Post reports that Pirro enthusiastically agreed, and that she also attended a baby shower for Lara Trump, Eric Trump's wife, that very same day.

Speculation over the tapes is rooted in a particularly cryptic tweet from the United States president issued nearly a month ago, seeming to suggest he might hold recordings of the conversations. Are you kidding me?

"No collusion, no obstruction, he's a leaker", Trump said during a Rose Garden news conference, knocking Comey for disseminating the content of a memo he kept on a dinner he had with the President.

Comey has accused Trump of firing him to derail an investigation into Russian interference in USA elections and then lying about the motives for the move. Comey also said that he considered the comment to be a directive.
