Deputies: Wrong-way driver hits vehicle head-on, kills driver

A fatal vehicle crash in Harris County is being investigated by Harris County Precinct 5 Sunday morning.

Deputies say around 1:30 a.m., a driver in a pickup truck was going the wrong way on the Sam Houston Tollway and crashed head-on into a Mercedes which into another vehicle.

The driver of the pick-up truck going the wrong way was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. The collision triggered another crash - and the Mercedes was struck again by another vehicle. The driver of the auto died.

The driver of the Mercedes died and the passenger was taken to the hospital, Harris County constable deputies from Precinct 5 told KPRC. He was also listed in stable condition.

A wrong-way driver caused a fatal crash in southwest Houston early Sunday morning, authorities said. The Harris County District Attorney's Office has been contacted and will determine whether any charges are filed. The driver of the secondary crash was not hurt.
