Bill Cosby's legal team attack sex assault accuser's credibility

And what Constand called "suggestive" contact when she said Cosby on one occasion touched her thigh and on another tried to unbutton her trousers, she called "sexual" contact in her statement to the police, Agrusa pointed out.

Constand's allegations were initially investigated by a separate Montgomery County district attorney in 2005, but no charges were filed.

She replied by saying she trusted him and didn't think he'd take things any further.

She says they became friends over conversations about the basketball team and later her career. Another time, she said, Cosby tried to undo her trousers but took his hand away when she leaned forward and told him: "I'm not here for that".

"I felt that if I had gone to police, Mr. Cosby would retaliate and try to hurt me, that he would try to hurt me and my family in some way", Constand said. He has previously called the encounter consensual.

Cosby could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.

Constand testified that Cosby gave her three blue pills to help her relax during a 2004 visit to his Pennsylvania home.

Cosby's lawyer Angela Agrusa suggested Constand, a 44-year-old former employee of the basketball programme at Temple University, once enjoyed a romantic dinner at Cosby's home before the alleged assault.

Constand's allegations unleashed a tidal wave of more than 60 women who claimed the man once dubbed America's Dad had drugged and sexually assaulted them as well.

Constand is expected to take the stand again on Wednesday. Cosby testified in a civil deposition that he did give her pills and there was sexual contact.

Constand has testified about how her professional relationship with the Temple University trustee evolved into a friendship. She added that by this point, Cosby penetrated her with his fingers and placed her hand on his penis, moving it back and forth.

A day after she confronted Bill Cosby in court for the first time, his accuser Andrea Constand faced a challenge from his lawyers. This was her first public appearance telling her story of her alleged assault by Cosby, where she says she was drugged and groped by him. "And I believed he supported numerous athletic programs", Constand said.

If anyone had the notion that Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial would be anything but traumatic, reports of what went down in the courtroom today should dispel that pretty quickly. Her suit came after prosecutors declined to press charges.

Other details did match up.

When Constand was "jolted awake", she said on the stand on Tuesday, Cosby was assaulting her.

Cosby, is now 79 and claims he is blind. Tearfully, she said she felt humiliated and confused after she drove away from Cosby's estate the next morning.

In yesterday's testimony, a woman identified as "victim number six" described being drugged and sexually molested by Cosby.

Miller's timeline of the events differs from Johnson.

Agrusa presented phone records showing Constand called Cosby that March 16 at 9:45 p.m., then later called friend Sheri Williams. But actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played his daughter Rudy on "The Cosby Show" in the 1980s and '90s, was at his side as he made his way into the building.

She also explained that she was too afraid to tell anyone about the incident. She is clear and thoughtful with her answers.

Cosby is not on trial for any alleged incidents with Johnson.
