Speaking at the same central London venue where she launched her bid for the Conservative leadership a year ago, the prime minister stressed the importance of strong leadership as Britain deals with the threat of Islamist extremism and heads into Brexit talks with the European Union.

The frequency of attacks is picking up in line with intensifying threats and exhortations on social media for supporters of Islamic State to turn their murderous energies to the West. She said providing more firearms for London police wouldn't be a sensible solution to the increased tempo of attacks, saying the strategy of having special mobile units of heavily armed officers is effective.

Trump also connected a recent attack in Manila to "what's going on throughout the world with terror".

The handwritten note, captured by a photographer at the scene, said that he had "been interrogated past year for his Islamic views", adding that his house was searched and his passport taken away. Isn't Saturday's attack in London, coming as it did on the heels of the Manchester bombing, deeply disturbing?

May said the police and counter-terrorism operations are adequately funded and staffed and that the official threat level is to remain at "severe, " meaning an attack in highly likely. "Those police officers, within eight minutes, had shot three attackers and killed them and that saved countless lives". The Metropolitan police have revealed the name of the attacker.

In the aftermath of the London attack, Facebook, Google, and Twitter have insisted that they already work closely with the United Kingdom government to flush out the sharing of extremist content-as fresh calls to crack down on the Internet and end-to-end crypto once again surfaced following a terror atrocity.

May was due to chair a meeting of the government's emergency response committee on Monday.

The focus is back on Pakistan and this time in connection with the London Bridge terror attack.

On May 22, a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured dozens at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, in northwest England.

Grande gave an emotional performance on Sunday at a benefit gig in the city for the victims of the attack, singing with a choir of local schoolchildren, including some who had been at her show.

Some polls indicate the election could be close, possibly throwing Britain into political deadlock just days before formal Brexit talks with the European Union are due to begin on June 19.

"She was very caring but at the same time very professional".

However, the PM faced questions about her own leadership while home secretary under David Cameron.

"We have made a number of arrests, we are trying to find out whether anyone was helping them and to understand the background to this attack as best we possibly can", she said speaking to Sky News.

While she was a Minister, police numbers decreased every year.

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn on Monday called on the prime minister to resign over police cuts. They don't want to talk about how Britain's lax immigration policies over decades led to hundreds of thousands of immigrants entering the country with varying degrees of willingness to assimilate and adopt Western values. "We want to generate confidence within Muslim communities to make sure they feel supported, encouraged and feel safe talking to us, and we'll deal with it in a proportionate way and keep them updated as we do that as well".
