Summer heat ahead of Memorial Day storms

It will be relatively mild with highs in the low to mid 70s today and mid to upper 70s on Saturday.

While we have had warm and sunny Memorial Day weekends in the past - and it's even been in the lower 90s as recently as a year ago - the cool stuff is actually more normal. A northwest wind will pick up and become gusty for a while before diminishing at night. Afternoons will see some clouds and showers form over interior and leeward neighborhoods. There may be a diminishing shower right near 8 a.m., but the rest of the day will be good to be outside. Partly sunny in the morning, then mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Southwest wind 8 to 11 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Cloudy, with a low around 59. The high will be 87; winds will be southwest 5 to 10 miles per hour.

Unfortunately, the rain chances only increase for Memorial Day. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of showers.

Overview: Friday will feature more sunshine, with partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures returning. North wind 3 to 6 miles per hour.

Wednesday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 51. Northeast wind 9 to 11 miles per hour. Sunday will have a partly sunny sky with temperatures cooler in the low and mid 70s. Calm wind becoming north around 5 miles per hour.

A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. The surf will remain rough on Friday, with 5 foot waves and a Moderate Risk of rip currents expected up and down the Shore. The high will be near 75. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76.

For Memorial Day, another front is expected to move through with yet another threat of showers.

SATURDAY: There will be a 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Then, the skies turn much clearer Saturday night, and we start out Sunday with sun.

It's been a nice warm day with highs in the 80's for many areas.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies continue with a low temperature of 56 degrees.

Thursday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66.

Thursday - A 30 percent chance of showers.

Tuesday: Scattered showers, mainly after 9am.
