LeBron James Sets New NBA Scoring Record

After knocking off the Boston Celtics on Thursday to advance to his seventh straight NBA Finals, LeBron James wasn't quite ready to think about the Golden State Warriors.

In 2016, it looked like everything was going the Warriors' way.

Cleveland's 4-1 series' win gives it a 12-1 record this postseason and sets up a third consecutive matchup with Western Conference champion Golden State, the team it beat in the Finals last season to claim the franchise's first championship.

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Wizards was the quintessential Horford game.

"I've been very blessed the last few years to be a part of this league and play on the big stage", James said.

LeBron James scored 35 points to become the NBA's all-time playoff scoring leader - surpassing Michael Jordan.

"It's just my personal goal to keep me motivated, that's all", James said.

The 28-year-old Thomas aggravated the injury in game 6 of the Celtics' second-round series against the Washington Wizards.

For James, the Finals are an annual rite.

There's also the irony that Brown, the first coach who took James to an NBA Finals in 2007 - Cleveland was swept by San Antonio - will now coach against him, likely in the same leading role he's had for Golden State since head coach Steve Kerr was forced to take a break because of continued problems with his surgically repaired back.

"I'm not in the right mind to even talk about Golden State", James said.

While James is going for his fourth ring, Warriors forward Kevin Durant will be trying to win his first. Will they become the first team in National Basketball Association history to go undefeated in a postseason?

"It's one of those things I have no control over, it is what it is", said Brown, filling in for the ailing Steve Kerr. "I went when I was 23 years old, and it felt like the Western Conference Finals was nearly like the championship". So it's a little different now, obviously. If the Cavaliers are able to get performances from like this from Williams and the rest of the bench mob, they could be a tough out against the Golden State Warriors. They clinched the best record in the East, made it to the conference finals and, thanks to the Brooklyn Nets, they have the top pick in the upcoming National Basketball Association draft.
