Whenever you send a permanent image or video to your friends using Direct from the camera roll, you won't have to crop it anymore.

If you would have told me that Instagram would be the go-to social network five years ago, I would have scoffed. Since Instagram Direct was launched for everyone back in April, developers have been trying to further enhance users experience by adding new features and improvements.

Speaking of which, link previews are now a thing inside Instagram Direct as well.

Support for web links has also been added in Direct. Users can now share website links and the recipients will be able to preview them directly from the thread.

Landscape and portrait uploads are iOS-only at the moment, but links in DMs are part of Instagram 10.22, which is already available on Android.

Instagram today introduced a minor but notable upgrade to their Direct messaging service built into their mobile app. The addition of phone number and address links is particularly interesting since many small businesses use Instagram for online retail. Instagram is ensuring it stays ahead by offering what its users want, even if it is evolving away from its original objective.
