MacBook Air 2017 Rumors: Is Apple Updating Or Discontinuing It?

In an effort to make the MacBook Pro thinner and lighter than ever before, Apple ditched aging ports and SD card slots and gave users USB-C instead. The decision to use exclusively Thunderbolt 3 connections is a forward-looking move that leaves some current owners in a lurch when it comes to their installed base of older USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, and other devices.

However, Apple thought better and as the end of December edged closer, the firm extended the sale to run until March 31.

Sadly, the price cuts weren't permanent.

When Apple introduced its revamped MacBook Pro lineup last fall, the backlash was immediate.

However, this is assuming that a 2017 version of the MacBook Air launches at all, as there are plenty out there who feel there's a good chance of it being discontinued.

There are also rumors that since the MacBook Pro offers nearly the same features as the MacBook Air, the tech giant is now gearing up to have the MacBook Air series replaced with the MacBook Pro series. It can be recalled that in 2016, the MacBook Air series came under fire for adding only 8 GB of random-access memory (RAM) to its 13-inch model.

Whatever ends up being the case, it shouldn't be much longer until we get the official announcement from Apple.
