BARC India expresses dismay at Republic Network

In a statement, ir said that it has not commented on the ongoing investigation and is providing necessary assistance to the investigation into the ratings manipulation scam.

The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) on Sunday expressed disappointment with Republic Network for disclosing their private & confidential communication and misrepresenting the same.

BARC, according to Republic TV, replied on 17 October 'by thanking the network for their faith in the internal mechanisms of BARC and said that if there was any disciplinary action initiated against ARG Outlier Media Private Ltd, then BARC India would have communicated the same to you along with necessary documents for your response'.

India has slammed news channel Republic network for disclosing confidential communication and misrepresenting the same. In the ongoing investigation into the scam, Mumbai Police have so far arrested six people for allegedly influencing ratings.

"In the light of the recent developments, BARC Board has proposed that it's technical committee review and augment the current standards of measuring and reporting the data of niche genres, to improve their statistical robustness and to significantly hamper the potential attempts of infiltrating the panel homes", an official statement said.

DAYS AFTER the Supreme Court asked Republic TV to approach the Bombay High Court against summons issued by Mumbai Police in connection with the investigation into charges of TRP fudging, the channel has approached the HC seeking quashing of the FIR against it. The petition also seeks a stay on the investigation, and restraining the State; Station House Officer of Kandivali police station; Crime Intelligent Unit; and Commissioner of Police (CP) Param Bir Singh from taking any coercive steps.
