Kevin Feige Unveils Iron Man Scene Teasing Spider-Man & X-Men

In the original version, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) arrives unexpectedly to invite Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to join the Avengers Initiative.

According to the Russos, getting Marvel Comics' most popular character into the studio's movies in the first place was the result of fraught negotiations between Disney (which owns Marvel) and Sony, which owns the film rights to the character. Here's what Fury says to Tony: "As if gamma accidents, radioactive bug bites, and assorted mutants weren't enough, I have to deal with a spoiled brat, who doesn't play well with others, who wants to keep all his toys to himself".

The interesting thing about this is that Marvel Studios execs wanted the Marvel characters whose film rights were owned by Fox (mutants or X-Men) and Spider-man (Sony) into the fold of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

In the scene that made it into the final cut of Iron Man, Fury only says, "You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger universe, you just don't know it yet".

This is just one of the deleted scenes and alternate takes that will be included in The Infinity Saga box set.

Meanwhile, Marvel has quite a big line up for release.

We see that Russo is backing and defending Kevin Feige, as Sony Pictures chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra recently said that Kevin Feige is "stretched incredibly thin" and that Feige "didn't do all the work". Feige first made mention of this DVD box set, which ostensibly includes all of the movies from the first decade of the MCU ending with Avengers: Endgame, back in August.

It's worth noting that these could be exclusive to the soft launch or even to the Netherlands, and while we can hope for these shows, we shouldn't necessarily expect to see the same line-up at launch.

"We know how hard that marriage was to make in the first place, so the fact that the marriage fell apart isn't that surprising to me and Joe". So usually we love putting that stuff out there.
