TV Insider (the website of TV Guide Magazine) has confirmed that John Wesley Shipp will be returning for this Fall's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.

Shipp is perhaps best known for originating the role of The Flash on TV.

Previous year for the 2018 Elseworlds crossover, fans were surprised that he was playing the Barry Allen of Earth-90... in other words, the same character that he played on the classic Flash TV show from 1990. More recently, the actor has been a part of The CW's DC TV shared universe.

It's unclear exactly which role Shipp will reportedly play - he's previously appeared as Jay Garrick from Earth-2, Barry Allen of Earth-90, and Barry Allen's father Henry Allen in the core Arrowverse timeline.

He will join Batman 1966 legend Burt Ward, Batman: The Animated Series voice icon Kevin Conroy, Superman Returns' Man of Steel (and Legends' own) Brandon Routh and both Supergirl's Man of Steel and Lex Luthor Tyler Hoechlin and John Cryer as some of the crossover's major guest stars. Look for the crossover to begin in December.

Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim tweeted his excitement for the event earlier today.

What do you think?

As readers of the 1985 comic book, Crisis on Infinite Earths, recall, the Flash sacrificed himself to stop the Anti-Monitor's scheme to destroy worlds.
