Our new CNN/SSRS poll finds that President Donald Trump has an approval rating of 39% and a disapproval rating of 55%.

Recall, though, that Trump's approval rating has stayed between 35% and 45% in every CNN poll taken during his presidency.

Sixty percent of Americans say a recession is likely to hit the USA in the next year because of President Trump's trade war with China, according to a poll released on Tuesday. Conducted in early September, the results come as Americans have become increasingly concerned that the U.S.' trade war with China may cause a recession in the coming months.

We contacted the White House press office asking for a source to back up the president's claim, but have not received a response. Trump's approval rating dropped below 40 percent in three new polls.

He has an 82 percent approval rating among Republicans, near the high of 87 percent in July.

And although 56 percent of respondents said they view the economy as positive, that number is down from a high of 65 percent in the same poll last November. Trump's handling of the economy also slipped by five percentage points to 46 percent approval, a five percent drop from 51 percent in July.

The poll also showed that six out of 10 Americans polled said Trump doesn't deserve reelection and that most people do not think he's doing a good job keeping his campaign promises.

Trump, who regularly complains about unfavourable polls, denounced the latest poll as "the worst and most inaccurate poll of any" since his 2016 election.

CNN political director David Chalian said that of all the numbers in a new CNN poll that one should send a "chill" down the spine of the re-election campaign for President Donal Trump.

"Internal polling looks great, the best ever!" he said.

Chalian also pointed out that in their new polling that the president's favorability rating had fallen to 39 percent, which was the lowest since January.
