The Atlanta Falcons are restructuring two contracts to free up additional salary-cap space for a potential contract extension with star wide receiver Julio Jones.

The Falcons open the season on the road against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The other running back, (Alexander) Mattison, he did a great job. In four games to start the season, Cook tore off 444 yards from scrimmage, a 4.8 yard rushing average and the impact of a game-breaker.

Atlanta was arguably the most injury-plagued team in football last season.

Cook carried the ball 21 times behind the new zone blocking scheme influenced heavily by new offensive adviser Gary Kubiak, the former Houston and Denver head coach. "Probably a little more time than he would like, but I know we are in a good place".

"I think every game calls for something different", Cousins said. "You keep battling through it, and keep getting better".

Minnesota enters the 2019 season coming off of a year where it finished 8-7-1 while missing the postseason a year after it reached the NFC Championship Game against the eventual 2017 NFL Champions Philadelphia Eagles. Wide receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs both had 1,000 yards receiving past year and will be the go to targets for Cousins, along with tight end Kyle Rudolph in Gary Kubiak's uptempo offense. Aside from Cook's two, quarterback Kirk Cousins also scored on a QB sneak as he played the role of game manager, attempting a career-low 10 passes but completing eight of those throws for 98 yards, a touchdown and no turnovers.

Falcons: Host Philadelphia on September 15, one of two night games on their schedule at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this year. The deal makes Jones the NFL's highest-paid receiver.

Defensively, Minnesota features essentially the same faces from a unit that ranked fourth in the National Football League at 309.7 yards allowed per game. Still seemed to leave it up in the air by saying "I don't know" as to if he will actually play Sunday.
