According to the report, an Indian man named Akash was so upset upon being gifted a BMW 3 Series two months ago that he deliberately moved the luxury vehicle into the Western Yamuna Canal.

A man allegedly pushed his BMW into a river because he wanted his parents to give him a Jaguar. It is unclear if they managed to get the BMW out of the water.

He enlisted the help of some local divers who worked to pull the vehicle back to dry land.

Various videos of the M3 BMW floating down the river in Yamunanagar, Haryana state, emerged on social media, where many users were horrified at the waste of the high-end auto.

Akash shared a video on social media of his brand new auto floating away.

His father, Sanjeev Kumar, defended his son and denied that Akash wanted a Jaguar.

The 22-year-old man was identified only as Akash; according to police, he has a mental deficiency and is undergoing treatment.

News outlet NDTV reports that the young man was given the white BMW 3-Series from his parents for his birthday but it wasn't the auto he wanted.

"We could only afford to give him a BMW, while he kept on insisting that he be given a Jaguar".

The son apparently had demanded a new Jaguar for his birthday and was unimpressed with the BMW, which he thought was too small. The BMW eventually got stuck on a patch of grass in the middle of the river, causing Akash to jump into the water to go after it.

"We never imagined he would do anything like this".
