The official trailer for Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance has arrived and fans of the original 1982 film should hope their eyes are hungry for a feast given the extensive look at the magical, and often handsome, world of Thra it offers. "I was not fighting against anyone, I was fighting against common sense and practicality", he says with a laugh. The show's executive producers are Leterrier, Halle Stanford, and Jim Henson's daughter, Lisa Henson. These Gelflings are running and falling and fighting like they don't know they're stuffed little critters controlled by hands and rods!

The Crystal of Truth is the source of all life in the world of Thra and unfortunately, the Skeksis have corrupted it.

In addition to Rian, the trailer shows fellow series leads Brea (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Deet (Nathalie Emmanuel), and returning character Aughra (now voiced by Donna Kimball, taking over for the late Billie Whitelaw). Children of the '80s will swim in nostalgia with this epic fantasy adventure while a new generation will be introduced to the world of Thra.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is set to hit Netflix on August 30.

Age of Resistance is heading to Netflx later this month as a much anticipated follow up to Jim Henson's beloved cult classic film. It's the first time we've really got to hear a good chunk of the extensive and equally impressive vocal cast in action, but it's also a reminder that holy mother of Thra, this show looks gorgeous. It looks like their Lord of the Rings... and it's done... with puppets! Voicing the Skeksis & Mystics are Harvey Fierstein (Torch Song Trilogy), Mark Hamill (Knightfall, Star Wars), Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones), Jason Isaacs (The OA), Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (True Detective), Simon Pegg (Mission Impossible), Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Benedict Wong (Avengers: Endgame), Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians).
