In April this year, Amazon and Google had announced that they had agreed to allow each other's streaming media applications to work on their platforms, ending a spat over video between the tech giants that had made it hard or impossible for users of one of the video services to use the platform to access the other's.

"In addition to the select Android TV devices that now have Prime Video, many more Android TV smart TVs, set-top boxes and streaming devices will also soon have Prime Video, with rollout starting today", it continued.

What if you don't have either as well? The all-new YouTube app will appear in the "Your Apps and Channels" row on all compatible devices.

For this to be possible, however, one's device will need to be running on Android 5.0 Lollipop or a more recent version of Android. Another feature was the ability to utilize the YouTube application on certain Amazon Fire TV gadgets, it said. DSTV Now, VLC, YouTube, among others are some of the popular apps that allow users, especially those in Kenya, to cast content from their smartphones to the big screen.
