It's summertime! Do you know what that means?

In a developer update that was rolled out today, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan has shared some of the game's content schedule. Players expect new heroes and new maps at certain times, and it seems that this newest Developer Update is trying to get ahead of any concerns over a delay surrounding Overwatch Hero 31.

The new cheat detection in Overwatch should bring brighter days to the game's servers. For reference, Ana, Doomfist, and Wrecking Ball were all released in July. However, that will not be the case this year as the next hero release is getting delayed. You might be sad to see Overwatch Hero 31 delayed, but it's ultimately for the best. Nonetheless Kaplan stated that whereas the subsequent hero is certainly in improvement, he (Kaplan emphasised that pronoun, giving us our first clue in regards to the hero) shall be displaying up a bit later than anticipated. This helps narrow down who might be the next hero and numerous online community believe that the next hero could be Mauga who is shown in the Baptiste short story. But as you heard from Kaplan himself, the next hero will be a "he". What do you think about the Summer Games coming sooner and the other changes? Fans have a positive outlook on the future of the game, doubly so with Jeff Kaplan at the helm. If it's coming "much sooner", it's possible it can commence sometime this month. Instead, Kaplan said "he is going to be awesome", and the team needs a little more time to make him "even more awesome".

Kaplan did give a little bit of information pertaining to the upcoming Summer Games. He went on to say that we will be seeing more weekly skin challenges (similar to the D.Va and Baptiste challenges that previously ran) during the Summer Games.

In the update video, Kaplan discusses changes along with Overwatch's improved cheat detection system. "You'll enjoy that a lot more". In this update, a new automatic cheat detection system will be launched on PTR and is expected to hit the live servers as soon as it is ready.
