Coronation Street fans have been following Sinead Tinker's heartbreaking battle with cervical cancer over the past year, and on Wednesday night the character was given the positive news that her tumour had shrunk.

"And producers will be sad to see Katie leave the soap, but she will make an unforgettable departure which is set to leave viewers in tears".

A source told the publication: "From her two rocky relationships to the minibus crash, she's been in some of Corrie's most captivating storylines".

The very bad news is expected to come as a shock to soap fans and on-screen partner Daniel Oscbourne, who believed Sinead's health was taking a positive turn following a run of chemotherapy.

She chose to ignore her treatment plan so she could give birth to baby Bertie, but had to give birth prematurely as her cancer began to spread.

Viewers are set for some heartbreaking scenes as Sinead Tinker reportedly passes away this year.

And while McGlynn's exit has yet to be officially confirmed by Coronation Street bosses, new reports have revealed the devastating exit storyline in the works for her character.

According to the Sun, Sinead will be told that the treatment is not working and that she will not pull through her illness. The factory worker chose to put her son first, and gave birth to her son Bertie in January.

Sinead was given the all-clear after having aggressive chemotherapy, but has been terrified of the cancer coming back ever since. He said at a Coronation Street press event: "Certainly, the longer it goes on the harder it becomes to kill Sinead because Katie and Rob have been so good in it - they're nearly acting their way off the butcher's block".

Katie McGlynn is the latest in a long line of soap actors to leave Coronation Street in 2019.
