The $50 doll is being marketed for the "adult collector", according to the product page, forestalling complaints from parents "not sure if (it's) a boy or a girl" their children are playing with.

BOWIE: Stardust, Rayguns, & Moonage Daydreams chronicles the rise of Bowie's career from obscurity to fame; and paralleled by the rise and fall of his alter ego as well as the rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust.

Public lobbying for a Barbie Jobriath starts... now.

"In a definitive celebration of two pop culture icons, Barbie honors the pioneer of sound and vision: David Bowie!", Mattel hypes in a statement.

The company has released a collectible doll dressed as Bowie's extraterrestrial rocker Ziggy Stardust, made to honour "the cultural legacy of the musical genius who redefined rock'n'roll".

The doll comes decked out in the metallic space suit and bright red platform boots worn by Bowie. With a career spanning over five decades, David Bowie was at the vanguard of contemporary culture as a musician, artist, and icon.
