In this image released by ABC, Viola Davis appears in a scene from "How To Get Away With Murder".

Davis has won a lead actress in a drama Emmy and has received two other nominations for her performance on the show (she also was nominated in the guest actress in a drama category for playing the character on "Scandal" during a cross-over promotion).

The major question left to answer, besides where the heck Laurel (Karla Souza) and baby Christopher are, of course, is whether everyone will actually end up getting away with murder, or whether the show will end with them all in prison for their many, many crimes.

He also thanked the show's writers, cast, crew and especially the viewers, whose strong social-media presence helped guarantee the program's ratings success and cultural stickiness.

The series stars Viola Davis as Professor Annalise Keating, Charlie Weber as Frank Delfino, Liza Weil as Bonnie Winterbottom and Billy Brown as Nate.

"The only reason this show exists is because of [the fans'] loyalty and enthusiasm", he added. You can check out a teaser for the killer final season, which will premiere on Thursday, September 26, now in the player below! This season follows Professor Annalise Keating's (Viola Davis) class through their final semester in law school - while the deception, fear and guilt binding Professor Keating to her students prove deadlier than ever. I can't wait for you all to see how it ends, with twists and turns and all the craziness we love to create every Thursday night.

Pete Nowalk created the series and serves as showrunner. Rhimes left ABC for the streamer previous year after more than a decade with the studio. How to Get Away With Murder averaged 2.8 million total viewers during its fifth season, earning a 0.67 in the 18-49 demographic.

It's not the only hit ABC series coming to an end - the producers of Modern Family previously announced the show will wrap for good after its 11th season, which will also debut later this year.

Disney Television Studios is a collection of studios comprised of 20th Century Fox Television, ABC Studios and Fox 21 Television Studios.
