Amazon Prime Day 2019 set for July 15th and 16th

Based on shopping activity across more than 6,000 retail sites, including those of top US retailers, Bazaarvoice saw a 21% increase in visitor traffic during Prime Day 2018 in comparison to typical traffic. Eastern on Monday, July 15, and will run until 2:59 a.m.

Amazon was originally founded on July 16, 1995.

'Get ready, as we pull back the curtain to reveal exclusive products, special performances and two full days of phenomenal deals this Prime Day, ' said Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon Worldwide Consumer.

This being Prime Day, you'll need to be a Prime member to get the best bargains.

This will be the fifth iteration of the annual event for the online retailer, who has boasted that the event will feature more than a million deals all over the globe. If you're not, it's free to join for 30 days, after which it's $119 per year.

That's according to a new study of USA and U.K. Prime members from Profitero, which revealed that the annual shopping extravaganza is gaining more steam with each passing year. Of course, Amazon has its own fair share of exclusive products to offer, like Kindle and Alexa-enabled devices, which you won't find at Target, but then again, for everything else, both retailers are bound to have some great deals.

eBay is also promising "a fresh batch of too-good-to-be-true deals that will drop if Amazon crashes".

In a recent PCMag survey of approximately 1,500 people, about 44 percent are hoping to nab a deal on smart home devices during Prime Day.

Prime Day also offers shoppers early access to brand new product launches.

This is a 43-inch, 1080p HD television with Amazon's Fire TV platform built in, and also Alexa via a microphone in the accompanying voice control remote.

But one number remains to be seen: How much money could Amazon make during Prime Day 2019?

While the event's original intent was to drive Prime membership for the ecommerce behemoth, it's become a sales event that eclipses all others, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
